USF projects selected for new research program bring the potential to solve critical challenges

Four interdisciplinary teams of USF researchers have each been awarded up to $1 million in seed funding through the Collaborative Research Excellence and Translational Efforts awards 鈥 a new initiative designed to catalyze new research and enhance USF鈥檚 impact. The USF-funded CREATE awards will support the launch of research projects in the areas of innovation, technology and aging, antimicrobial resistance, precision medicine and AI-generated materials.

Chemo drug may cause significant hearing loss in longtime cancer survivors   

Researchers followed a cohort of cancer survivors for more than a decade to determine the progression of their hearing loss after their chemotherapy treatment. The findings reveal a need to enhance patient support to improve quality of life and outcomes.

AAU Membership Fueling USF鈥檚 Momentum

USF鈥檚 historic invitation to join the Association of American Universities has taken what many in Tampa Bay have once considered a 鈥渂est-kept secret鈥 to an unprecedented new level. Being an AAU member is a tremendous milestone for USF as it formalizes USF's position as a leading research university. USF is the first public university in Florida to be invited to join the AAU in nearly 40 years and is now one of only two institutions from the State University System of Florida to serve as an AAU member.

The University of South Florida today announced a $1 million estate gift that will provide scholarships to students in the College of Arts and Sciences. The gift comes from Steven Tauber, a longtime faculty member and current vice provost for faculty administration, and his wife, Meghan.

Snowbird was sworn in as USF St. Petersburg's new comfort dog. Along with his handler, Ofc. Mark Lickenfelt from the University Police Department, Snowbird will deliver goodwill and quiet compassion to students, faculty and staff.
